  • Black River Gorges National Park
  • Flic-en-Flac
  • Ganga Talao

Île aux Cerfs

The island of Ile aux Cerfs lies off Trou d’Eau Douce in the largest lagoon of Mauritius and offers 87 hectares of luxuriant vegetation and preserved, white, sandy beaches. Besides the Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club, one can also experience three beach restaurants and engage in a wide variety of activities on Ile aux Cerfs. Every day Mauritians and tourists visit the island; they depart in boats from the village of Trou d'Eau Douce and spend the whole day on the island.

Le Morne Brabant

Le Morne Brabant is a penisula at the extreme southwestern tip of the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius on the windward side of the island. It is highlighted by an eponymous basaltic monolith with a summit 556 metres above sea level. There are many caves and overhangs on the steep slopes. It is largely surrounded by a lagoon and is a well known tourist attraction. The mountain is named after the VOC-ship (Dutch East India Company) Brabant that ran aground here on 29 December 1783 on the cliffs.

Black River Gorges National Park

Black River Gorges National Park is a national park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius. It was proclaimed on June 15, 1994 and is managed by the National Parks and Conservation Service.

Flic-en-Flac

Flic-en-Flac is a small seaside town on the western part of the island of Mauritians in the district of Riviere Noire. The name most likely comes from an Old Dutch prase, "Fried Landt Flaak", meaning free, flat land.

Things we can do in Flic-en-Flac:

  1. La Preneuse
  2. Flic-en-Flac Beach
  3. Wolmar
  4. Tamarin Public Beach

Ganga Talao

Ganga Talao is a crater lake situated in a secluded mountain area in the district of Savanne, deep in the heart of Mauritius. It is about 1800 feet above sea level. The first group of pilgrims who went to Ganga Talao were from the village of Triolet and it was led by Pandit Giri Gossayne from Terre Rouge in 1898. It is considered the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius. The Shiv Mandir is located on the bank of the lake and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are temples dedicated to other Gods including Lord Hanuman, Goddess Ganga, and Lord Ganesh along the Grand Bassin. During Shivaratri, many pilgrims in Mauritius walk bare feet from their homes to the lake.
